Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
