Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located multiple other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
